The recent spell of warm weather has sparked sightings of some amazing wildlife on the north coast. With mirror calm seas, a mother and calf porpoise were spotted travelling west from Kelsey head, near Newquay. Large concentrations of mackerel were busting up and breezing on the surface which is a good indicator of plankton blooms. With the sea temperatures rising these blooms create a source of food at the bottom of the food chain and the imminent arrival of larger marine species is expected. Watch this space for updates. Will we spot a basker?! |
